Aiming to excel in maths and science, some 32 grade 11 learners from eight schools in rural KwaZulu-Natal are now part of a special science academy, spearheaded by KZN Sands in partnership with Grantleigh College. The academy runs a maths and science development programme throughout the year aimed at helping learners earn distinctions in both subjects at grade 12 level. The mentoring and extra lessons are clearly baying dividends, with a significant students achieving distinctions in their school-leaving results.
