Third parties with more than 110 projects totalling in excess of 3 500MW of capacity indicated that they have an interest in developing co-generation projects.

In addition to the commercial bidding process, a number of other activities were undertaken. These included engaging with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa on licensing requirements, making decisions on the ceiling price to be offered, cost recovery, preparation for bid evaluation, providing connection quotations for the bidders, and engaging with funding institutions.
